Day 15: “Your favorite tumblrs”
Since there are far too many Tumblr’s I love and since I wanted to write something about each one, I am going to highlight three by people I know that I think are awesome.
First up is Melanie Hamlett. Melanie’s tumblr, (and her corresponding website) is where she posts picture stories of the many adventures she has already had. The key word here is many. One of the things I love about Melanie is that she finds fun and inspiration in the small details. Her tumblr is not only a great representation of this, but since I know her I can guarantee you that it is updated constantly. It’s one of those blogs you can check everyday over lunch or while you finish up your coffee and you want something fun to look at. Not a bad way to start the day.
Delishytown is a new favorite and I don’t know how I didn’t see it earlier. Though I haven’t seen her in years, I know that the lovely person who runs this tumblr is smart, sweet, and incredibly funny. Those are things I like in people who also make food. She has loads of simple and delicious ideas that are easily adjustable even for the gluten free, like myself. And even if you don’t want to make any of the stuff, you still get gorgeous pictures of food (food porn!). She also has a kick ass etsy.com page.
Laura’s sometimes name changing tumblr is a funny and sweet tumblr to follow. She seems to be unintentionally charting her growth from college age comedy nerd to adult woman ready to take on the world, and it’s fun to boot. When I first met her she had just arrived from San Diego. She had a lot of energy, too much for some people. Being manager at UCBTLA meant I knew everyone at least a little bit, so people would always talk to me about other people. Whenever some curmudgeonly type would comment on her energy I would always say, “Unlike us, Laura didn’t hide herself away in the four years of subsidized stupidity that is college. She’s doing all the same stuff we did, but she’s doing it in front if us, a bunch of judgmental comedy types. Chill out, in a few years, we’ll all be different.” So it’s fun to see where she is and where she is going.
